Known to many as a celebrated nightclub owner, Karen has built and operated a total of five respectable clubs in the region. During her University of Melbourne days, she started a string of very successful monthly parties which eventually led to running weekly club nights for others. In 1999 Salt Nightclub was built and till this day, the name is still remembered by many as an iconic club. Salt set the clubbing standard in Melbourne, Australia.

Following that, she moved to Kuala Lumpur where she built Nouvo. Two years later, she moved on to build and operate the legendary Zouk Kuala Lumpur. Under her direction, she held the first ZoukFest in Genting Highlands attracting 16,000 revellers in one of the most stunning and successful outdoor event.

After 6 years in Malaysia, Karen finally returned to Singapore and Mimolette was created. The restaurant’s unique location and setting soon gave her the idea to launch an exclusive Friday supperclub night called Trybe. Karen has also consulted in other F&B projects in between and has ownership of Racks, Shanghai.

Karen’s experience is very broad spanning from construction, setting-up, operations, marketing and promotions, events, sponsorship. Her big club experience and unique background has trained her to think on her feet creatively and troubleshoot quickly and efficiently through every aspect of a project, start till finish while ensuring quality and standards are maintained.

Kashma Budhrani

Kashma Budhrani began her career in the financial sector dealing with international trade, investment management and asset management. But her world of finance and numbers took an unexpected turn when she obtained a Masters in South Asian Studies at New York’s Columbia University in 2008. She was captivated by all aspects of Asian culture and history, especially in the differing types of film and modern literature to each region and to the western world.

Being a disciplined researcher with strong communication skills, Kashma has successfully organized charitable events, cultural festivals for her collegiate Asian Societies, as well as informational sessions to increase awareness of the economic disparities in India. She sees collaborating with Refinery Media as an opportunity to explore investment opportunities in Asia through new and exciting entertainment avenues.

Elliot Rudge
Head of Integrated Marketing

After pursuing his education in Melbourne, Australia, Elliot headed home to Singapore to pursue his career in Advertising. He joined OgilvyOne, where he spearheaded several through the line APAC accounts, namely American Express, DHL and Diageo brands for over 3 years. He later joined Leo Burnett Singapore and led their FMCG portfolio.

Elliot’s expertise are in through-the-line advertising such as one to one marketing/(CRM), particularly direct & tradigital advertising. Elliot’s passion lies in attaining direct results, concluding from well planned strategic communications.

He then later moved to Phnom Penh, Cambodia to join a boutique agency, where he successfully managed the country’s top carbonated beverage, Coca-Cola and then to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on Unilever brands. Elliot joins Refinery Media as the Head of Integrated Marketing to focus on how brands can successfully integrate themselves into an increasingly Digital World.
